Jeremy Sommer

Jeremy Sommer began his career at MDS in early 2019 as the Vice President of Business Development and Programs. In this capacity he leads new business development opportunities and manages company programs and operations upon award.

In his previous role, Jeremy served as the Director of Programs at Federal Premium Ammunition, where he was responsible for capturing and executing U.S. Department of Defense and International ammunition programs. During his years at Federal Ammunition, he captured several key multi-million dollar U.S. Department of Defense and International ammunition programs. Additionally, he managed a multitude of U.S. DoD and International DoD and Government ammunition programs across the globe.

His work in the field of aerospace and defense is broad and diverse. Prior to his time at Federal Ammunition he worked in the Systems and Sensors division of United Technologies (UTC), where he served as the division lead New Product Introduction Manager. His role was instrumental in establishing and managing common engineering and program management practices to the many UTC business units, supporting over 300 programs and associated program staff.

His work in aerospace first started at Lockheed Martin, where he was hired as a communications systems test engineer working on the Virginia and Seawolf class submarines for the U.S. Navy. During this time he was promoted to program manager and also began work in business development. Much of this work was classified, however, he was recognition for his leadership and work with two of Lockheed Martin’s highest honors: the NOVA Award and the President’s Award. Jeremy was also hand selected to help stand up AFRICOM. In this capacity, he worked in the intelligence and communications offices in Germany, ensuring a smooth transition of missions from EUCOM to AFRICOM.

Mr. Sommer earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Mary and a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the U.S DoD. He earned his master’s degree in Business from the Minnesota School of Business.

Mr. Sommer served 14 years in both the U.S. Army and Air Force. His hobbies and interests include shooting sports.
